Shade Cloth, 60% Aluminet

Product Details

Description

60% shade allows 40% light transmission. Aluminet is a special knitted screen made from metalized HDPE giving the fiber durability and longevity. These properties allow Aluminet to function like a mirror during summer months as its unique aluminized fibers reflect unwanted sunlight and heat from your greenhouse. These same properties also serve to retain valuable heat during the winter months.

  • Fabricated pieces include black reinforcing tape on all four sides. Reinforcing tape is a seat belt like material that provides extra durability along the edge of the piece and allows installation of grommets.
  • Fabricated sizes include a brass grommet in each corner of the piece and approximately every 2' apart around the entire perimeter. Grommets allow easy installation using rope or zip ties.
  • 5 year warranty against UV degradation

Factory Seams

Depending on the size ordered, your shade fabric may contain a factory seam.

Hanging Instructions

When hanging shade cloth pieces larger than 100 sq. ft., you may need extra center support to prevent the cloth from sagging in the middle. One easy way to do this is by running lightweight cable from corner to opposite corner, forming an X pattern that the cloth can rest on. For pieces larger than 400 sq. ft., you may need cables running end to end every 4' or so.

Covered my greenhouse yesterday, brought the temp down from 107 to 94 during this heatwave here in So Texas. We screwed eye bolts into the greenhouse and tied it onto those using paranoid for easy removal in the fall. Love it!

Heat was deadly.

Covered our 12x14 atrium with double pane, clear polycarbinate. Temp. went to 30-40 degrees higher then the rest of our home!!! The 60% aluminized screen has completely solved the problem. Top build quality with zero wind lift problems.

I use the Aluminet to shade my Rotties at dog trials and shows. Works great. Allows the wind to blow through to help keep everyone comfortable while providing shade. I have enough shade cloth to cover my SUV and make walls for my canopy. My next piece of aluminet will be big enough to cover the top of my canopy.

I use this big shade to drape over my entire Transit Connect which is a tall van and it keeps my dogs cool at dog events. Plenty of air passes through the mesh.

Good quality product. Be aware that it is very reflective. When I put it over greenhouse, reflections were distracting to us and neighbor. Shade cloth cannot be returned! Ordered green cloth and it is working well.

Prefabricated aluminet shadecloth

I'm very happy with the prefabricated shadecloth. Grommets every two feet made it easy to attach and secure to my greenhouse. The old black shade cloth heated up the greenhouse. This one hasn't seemed to do that - I'll see what happens when the summer heats up. The orchids have responded very well to the aluminet shadecloth. So far the binding has held up to some very windy days.

Purchased to extend spring use of greenhouse. Product is light and easy to handle, but sturdy so far. Has reduced greenhouse temperatures by 15 degrees on sunny days. If buying again, might have gone with 50% or 40% shade as perhaps a bit darker than I wish for raising seedlings, but then again, the greenhouse is less than 100!

We had used a green shade cloth on our greenhouse for years, but it still warmed up too much in mid-summer. With the aluminet cloth, the temperature stays much lower and we will be able to use the greenhouse year-round.

I have no experience with other shade cloth uses for protecting a greenhouse. However, the aluminum mesh shade cloth I ordered for my small greenhouse reportedly offers 60% protection from direct sunlight. This, in combination with my swamp cooler now holds my greenhouse internal temperature at a steady 84 degrees. For the first time I can use my greenhouse throughout the summer. The unanswered question is "how long will it last?" I hope it will serve me for years to come.

Put the 60% shade cloth up this weekend and it really cuts down on the heat within the greenhouse. Here in South Louisiana our days are starting to get hot, and this is going to be a great help in maintaining plants within the house this summer.

first, aluminet is amazing material! I used it to cover a 3v 28' geodesic dome for burning man. this material is breathable and keeps things cool. plus lots of people will stop to ask you what it is. the cons are 1) i should have got 70%. or maybe even 80%. 2) i got 7' wide spools which does not cover a large dome well. this was my fault though. 3) the ends don't cut very nicely, be prepared with industrial scissors and fabric tape to seal them off. 4) after a few uses it starts to show wear. while this stuff looks cool, the 60% is starting to sag and stretch in certain areas. i don't think it was designed to be taken up and down and up and down...
