Product Q&A

Q
Does it stop weeds from coming up?
A
The Dewitt Non-Woven Geotextile can be a beneficial weed barrier depending on application and use. This product is mainly used under roads, embankments, landfills, airfields, and sports construction projects and should not be used in general gardening applications.

Q
Will this hold up and stop cat tails in a bogie area?
A
Our lead technical associate stated that the Dewitt Non-Woven Geotextile could be used in this manner, however, the normal application for use is for placement under asphalt, rock, soil, and other materials of that nature. Our associate stated that, when covered, this product will have a longer lifespan and that the material could have a faster breakdown if left exposed to the elements in your boggy area.

Q
Can this be used as a homemade capillary mat for a large scale nursery space? Is it absorbent and can it hold water at all?
A
No, our master gardener would advise against using the Dewitt Non-Woven Geotextile in this manner.

Q
Would this product work as flooring for a hoophouse structure? Would it work better than the Dewitt Pro-5 weed-barrier?
A
We would suggest one of our UV-treated Weed Barrier fabrics be used in this application. Our master gardener suggested using either the MegaGrow 3 oz Ground Cover, the Polypropylene Ground Cover, or the Ultra Web 3000 Ground Cover.

Q
Would this fabric work as a fabric pot? What would you recommend to make my own?
A
We would advise against using the Dewitt Non-Woven Geotextile in this manner as it is mainly designed for use under asphalt, rock, soil, and other materials of that nature. We would suggest using one of the other weed barrier fabrics, such as the 5 oz. MegaGrow or 20 Year Weed Barrier for creating your own fabric pots.
