Product Details

Description

Root Pouch plant pots can be used to grow plants of any size and type, and are also ideal for transporting plants because they are lightweight and durable. Potted plants and trees will enjoy healthy growth while above-ground, and can also be planted directly in the ground, where the pot will degrade to allow the roots to take hold in the natural environment. The Root Pouch plant pot can be used successfully in many different climate and soil conditions, from desert sand to clay.

  • These black pots have a 12-15 month lifespan (for a longer lasting pot, see our 3-4 year Root Pouches)
  • Not intended as a stand alone container, great as inserts, planting, or hydroponics systems
  • Light-weight, thin walled porous fabric
  • Great for 1 season use, followed by planting in the ground
  • Perfect for greenhouse propagation or ebb & flow
  • Boosts plant growth and yields
  • Fabric allows roots to breath
  • Prevents roots from circling
  • Pots are washable and last for multiple seasons
  • Keeps plants warmer in winter & cooler in summer
  • Pots allow plants to be placed outside quicker
  • Saves up to a week off vegetative growth cycle
  • Can be used with drip systems, overheads & hydroponic flood trays

What makes Root Pouch plant pots a more sustainable gardening option?

Root Pouch plant pots used reclaimed plastic bottles that would otherwise be sent to our landfills. This not only recycled old plastic, it prevents the need for new plastic to be created, which saves petroleum and fossil fuels from being used.

What makes Root Pouch plant pots a better choice for healthier plants?

Root Pouch plant pots are more breathable and water-efficient, encouraging a more fibrous, dense root structure and preventing roots from circling. They also provide superior insulation, protecting plants against winter cold and summer heat.

What are Root Pouch plant pots made of?

Root Pouch plant pots are made of PETE (polythehylene terephthalate) derived from plastic bottles. This material is spun into fibers that are mixed with recycled cotton fibers, which degrade harmlessly over time. The resulting geotextile is available in four versions, each with a different degradation schedule—from six months to six years.

I love these bags for rooting fig cuttings with compost. They transplant right into a larger pot or ground with no delay in growth, no transplant shock. They benefit from being covered with something white or foil if it's hot weather.

I WAS VERY DISSAPOINTED IN THE BAGS. WHILE THEY LOOKED VERY NICE AND THE SIZE WAS USABLE... THE STITCHING WOULD NOT HOLD UP TO THE SIMPLE TASK OF OPENING THE BAG WITH YOUR FINGERS WITHOUT RIPPING THE STITCHING.... I COULDN'T USE THEM AND ASKED FOR A REFUND AND WAS GIVEN A PARTIAL REFUND. WOULD BE GREAT LITTLE BAGS IF THE STITCHING WOULDN'T RIP WITH JUST A TOUCH.

I am pleased with the quality of these Root Pouches. They are lightweight and durable. If you open them up and shape them before you fill them up, they do almost stand up by themselves. I liked the way I could pack 35 pouches in a large plastic pan (I use the kind made for mixing cement), and still be able to move the pan with ease.

I Love these!

Nice size but can not stand up at all on its own. The picture shows the product standing up. Or that there is a possibility of it standing up. I ordered a large amount only to find that they will not stand even temporarily without support. Not satisfied with the false advertisement. If I had known what I was receiving I would have ordered something else.

They would really get a 5 for quality, delivery, etc but I order a smaller size than I needed so haven't figured a way to use yet. I am always satisfied with this company.

Using the bags to temporarily plant fall bulbs through winter (didn't get my beds prepped in time). The 1 gallon holds enough dirt for 5 tulip and/or daffodil bulbs (3-4 inches below/4-6 inches above). Holds up well while carrying full of dirt (carried two at a time by the lip). Waiting to see how bulbs do once I get them in their permanent spot.

These pots are absolutely great. After being a botanist for several years I haven't seen pots likes these that are biodegradable, very breathable, durable, and most importantly affordable. My crop this spring has twice the root mass than previous crops this time of year.

These pouches worked just the way I wanted. I didn't have my plot ready but I wanted to get my bulbs in the ground. When I got my garden ready I was able to just put the pouch in the ground cover it up and let nature take its course.

I bought this product in the set of 50 3-gallon bags for a large project. Assuming that the 3 gallon bags were represented in the photo by the largest bag with handles, I was very disappointed when they arrived and I found that the bags are very thin felt (some almost tear when picked up by the upper "lip") and DO NOT have handles. These are about the flimsiest bags I've seen. Unfortunately, my timing didn't permit returning them and finding something better. I am hoping that they will be adequate and last through the season.
