Bulk Shade Cloth, 40% Aluminet

Visit our Custom Shade cloth page to order a custom sized piece.
40% shade allows 60% light transmission. Aluminet is a special knitted screen made from metalized HDPE giving the fiber durability and longevity. These properties allow Aluminet to function like a mirror during summer months as its unique aluminized fibers reflect unwanted sunlight and heat from your greenhouse. These same properties also serve to retain valuable heat during the winter months. The shade is designed especially for internal use to be spread permanently as a ceiling beneath greenhouse roofs, or to be installed as a moveable thermal screen.
- Bulk shade cloth has an unfinished edge that does not include reinforcing tape or grommets.
- Unlike woven shade cloth, the tough, lockstitch construction of our knitted material will prevent unfinished edges from unraveling.
- Bulk shade cloth can be easily cut with a sharp pair of scissors to any desired size.
- Bulk pieces can be attached using snap grommets, zip ties or other fastening methods.

Hanging Instructions
When hanging shade cloth pieces larger than 100 sq. ft., you may need extra center support to prevent the cloth from sagging in the middle. One easy way to do this is by running lightweight cable from corner to opposite corner, forming an X pattern that the cloth can rest on. For pieces larger than 400 sq. ft., you may need cables running end to end every 4' or so.

Keeps my veggies from cooking in the garden
I purchased some of this a couple of years ago for my greenhouse when the temps were reaching above 105 deg. in the greenhouse It helped to cool it down and then I took down the plastic covering from my mini-hoop house and used the shade covering to protect my tomatoes and other veggies intense sun. I couldn't be happier with the product. It reflects the sun lowers the heat and I had garden production when other gardener's produce was burning up.

Sunny in Florida
Shade cloth went up easy, nailed to a wood frame, strong no tears.
-
rips easily/ too lightweight
I have an aluminum famed greenhouse and the material catches and rips on very inch of it.Real pain to put on and off without it getting snagged and ripping somewhere. I do notice a reduced use of the vent fan. Wish it was made of more durable material. Hope it holds together for a growing season.
