The edges of these panels are sewn with heavy-duty reinforcing tape. Brass grommets are installed on approx. 2' centers around the perimeter. Often includes a seam where two pieces of shade have been sewn together. Durable, easy to install with ropes, bungees or wire. Most durable solution for smaller areas where shade will be suspended between four points. Grommeted panels are sold in pre-cut sizes or can be ordered in any custom size.
A raw piece of shade fabric where edges of panel are not reinforced with any tape or grommets. Would not typically have a seam but may have a raw (cut) edge. Can be installed with wiggle wire, shade cloth clips or wooden lath. Precut Panels are sold in pre-cut sizes or can be ordered in any custom size.
Sold in factory widths by the linear foot. Would only rarely have a seam and sides typically include a factory finished (uncut) edge. Most cost effective solution for large quantities of shade fabric.
50% shade allows 50% light transmission. Aluminet is a special knitted screen made from metalized HDPE giving the fiber durability and longevity. These properties allow Aluminet to function like a mirror during summer months as its unique aluminized fibers reflect unwanted sunlight and heat from your greenhouse. These same properties also serve to retain valuable heat during the winter months. The shade is designed especially for internal use to be spread permanently as a ceiling beneath greenhouse roofs, or to be installed as a moveable thermal screen.
Fabricated pieces include black reinforcing tape on all four sides. Reinforcing tape is a seat belt like material that provides extra durability along the edge of the piece and allows installation of grommets.
Fabricated sizes include a brass grommet in each corner of the piece and approximately every 2' apart around the entire perimeter. Grommets allow easy installation using rope or zip ties.
When hanging shade cloth pieces larger than 100 sq. ft., you may need extra center support to prevent the cloth from sagging in the middle. One easy way to do this is by running lightweight cable from corner to opposite corner, forming an X pattern that the cloth can rest on. For pieces larger than 400 sq. ft., you may need cables running end to end every 4' or so.

Orchids on the pool patio
I can now grow Catts with 50% Aluminet. Cooler also so plants don’t cook.
cover works great, plants are doing much better in greenhouse donn't have to move them out like last year
Product arrive promptly, appears as advertised, dimensions are remarkably accurate (contrary to some other reviews). My greenhouse is 24' long ... and that's the size of the product. Reinforced borders with grommets are a major plus, given the nature of the shading material. It even looks much better on the greenhouse than my old black mesh 50% shade. I just installed it yesterday. Will see how it functions and how it weathers its first season
This is for my little pop up greenhouse for my orchids during winter. This is perfect to cover it to allow me to move them to a sunnier patio section without burning them. I may use it as an open cover in summer.
The summer is well, sunny.
This shade cloth is exactly what the greenhouse ordered. It does the job and my plants are the happier for it!
Just put it up Saturday
It appears very well made. The temperature in the greenhouse is not as high with it on. We'll have to wait until it is hotter to tell whether we should have gotten higher reflectivity. The greenhouse is 20 ft, and the cloth seemed almost a foot short at each end. So the advice I'd give is to buy the next size up.
The aluminet was exactly as I expected it would be. I cut this piece to fit my application. It worked great.
I really like this product better than regular shade cloth. No heat build up!
Received in quick order but orchid greenhouse is still under construction so have not installed. Looks to be in excellent condition.
Not what I expected
I went from 60% black shade cloth to 50% aluminet primarily because I was told it would keep my greenhouse cooler in the summer warm in the winter. It seems to keep the heat in the winter but it is 10 degrees hotter in the summer. Going to switch back to black shade cloth
The product quality is good but I'm still waiting to see what difference it makes to the temp. It still goes up into 100's if it's supposed to reduce the temp I find that hard to believe, time will tell.
My second one. Use it to cover my orchid house. First one lasted 5 years. Shipping on time. Product as advertised. We'll made. Easy install w buggy cords. Orchids love it and it clearly cools the house during hot Fla weather.
Very well made.
This is my 3rd Aluminet shade fabric for my greenhouse, I just needed a third one to cover the areas that were not covered before & extend over the other shade fabric to decrease the light a little more. It has been much more durable than anything else I have ever used on my greenhouse. I highly recommend it.
Aluminet 50% shade cloth
Using this shade cloth during late spring and summer to keep the heat down in my small greenhouse. The cloth is obviously excellent quality, the grommets are conveniently placed and sturdily installed. The reflective aluminet cloth doesn't allow heat to build up just under the cloth, so it seems more effective than regular black shade cloth.
Shade Cloth 50% Aluminet; an excellent product
This is an excellent product which is well fabricated, durable and light in weight. Well worth the price!
Works GREAT and was very easy to install inside my greenhouse with the help of zip ties.
Lower quality than expected
This aluminet shade cloth was much lighter and flimsier than I expected.
Very easy to installExcellent quality of materialWe are using it in a Growing Dome and it has helped drop the temp by 10 degrees
I like it. It does what it says it will do our prototype greenhouse. Will be buying much more. Thanks again. G Chaffee
Very good quality and price. Was disappointed to have to pay the minimum cloth charge but overall very good product.
Easy install, good quality
I just installed it and it doesn't look as bad as I feared reflecting material would be. It is made of good quality, but we'll see when the summer hits. I'll give it 5 stars only if it keeps its quality for at least a couple more years.
50% Alumi Net
I was pleased when the cloth arrived. I used it on top of an arbor and was happy with how easy it was to attach because of the spacing of the grommets. However, when attaching the last corner approx. 3-4 of the black reinforcing tape pulled away. When I pulled it taught it was not noticable and after waiting for weeks and needing to protect my orchids from the summer sun I elected to finish installing it. The fabric does not appear to be as strong as indicated because the next day I noticed a pull on the top where a bird or squirrel must have got a claw stuck. It will be very interesting to see if it holds up to the 5 year warranty.
BEST ON THE MARKET
Super Service from GMS,and we realy like the Alluminet.First we noticed how extremely lightweight it was,and then how it made the greenhouse much more hospitable for my plants.I highly recommend it.
Great Product AND Service
I couldn't believe how quickly the three pieces of shadecloth came to us. All were exactly what I ordered. We got them put up last week and are SO happy with them. They let in much more light but really do keep the rooms cooler. It is hard to believe! Thank you!
I love Aluminet
This is my second Aluminet purchase. I got the 50% shade for my cactus shade house. The light under Aluminet is very nicely diffuse and it seems like it knocks the intensity down a bit. The sun here in AZ can be pretty intense! My previous Aluminet was pretty durable. it doesn't unravel when you cut it. Plus, I think it gives the shade house a more attractive look.
Worth the money
First of all, this shade cloth reduced the inside temperature of our custom built lean-to greenhouse enough to produce healthier plants for the garden and flower beds. Also, because of the odd size, it was custom made with the tape and grommets and delivered well within the time-frame promised.
Best Shade Cloth
I have used the Aluminet 50% shade since October 2008. I examined it in July 2009 and it is holding up extremely well, no raveling on the cut edges, no breakdown of material at all. It provides excellent shade even in Texas' 100+ temps. It is a far better shade cloth than the conventional shade cloth - worth the extra $. I didn't measure the temp before the shade cloth so I cannot document any 'cooling effect'.
