Broken Hanger Wire
I have only planted one of three the coco lined baskets. After watering twice, one hanger wire broke at the hook attachment joint.
i love these baskets, but they don't hold water very long so i put a plastic bag in the bottom of the basket before i put the dirt in. it helps alot and the plant roots won't go into the liner so you can use them over and over.
I bought the round wire basket after the flat bottomed, chain basket was sold out. The biggest flaw is the 3-prong wire hanger. They are prone to slide when not equidistant and the junction at the top released the hanger several times as I moved them. In general, somewhat flimsy, and considering you can purchase a much more solid hanging basket for $2 more at a big box store, I'll try the flat-bottomed basket next year, but never again the round basket.
Very nice baskets, better than most that I have found in some of the garden centers around our home and for a much better price. These baskets come with the coco liners and are already for you to add a little dirt and some flowers. We are trying some strawberries in a few baskets this year. We like the flat bottom basket because it sits firmly on the shelf in our cold frame and makes it easy to start the baskets ealier in the season so they will be full of blooms earlier than our neighbors baskets that they buy ($$$) at a chain store.
After doing the calculations I bought a whole case of the Coco Wire Baskets. They arrived quickly and were nicely packaged. I planted some flower starts that I started from seeds in most of the baskets. In a few others we planted some strawberry plants. Some baskets will go in our yard and others will be gifts to our friends and famlies. The baskets were a great purchase.
An excellent bargain
I was shopping for basket liners only, and found these to be an excellent bargain. I am a cheap-skate who enjoys a fabulous garden. Some soil and a few select plants from my local greenhouse and I can create a Martha Stewart quality hanging basket for under $15.00. The local greenhouses charge $50.00+ for wire and coco baskets, with someone else's choice of plants. A great deal for people who like to make it yourself!
coco baskets surprise
I thought that I was getting the liners only but got the baskets AND liners. What a great value compared to $14.99 EACH at our local shops. They are a snap to assemble. These are beautiful hanging on my patio. The flowers need to be watered daily in dry hot weather, but I already knew this and expected it.
This is a great basket at a great price. They hold up well and look beautiful inside or out. I keep them on hand for making up new containers in my greenhouse.
