This is a big ALMOST
I simply cannot fathom why any company went to this length and NOT include some form of propagation dome / covering with enough height to cover tree cuttings! This is such a sad oversight, and although I can make one myself, I am also a business man and would strangle someone offering this product from my business without having thought this through.

Great product
Absolutely the best container I’ve spent money on!! Great root development, plants are growing healthy and strong
-
Cheap... Made in China.
Conetainers were okay but not easy to get seedlings out of. Also not made in USA.

Great For Sowing Large Seed Rare Conifers
I use these cones for a variety of uses...from sowing large seed rare conifers, to rooting rare cactus cuttings, to potting up cactus seedlings...used in conjunction with the germination trays, bottom watering is regulated and safe from over watering.

Short cones don't reach the tray
I like the idea of this, but I bought the shorter cones, thinking they would be adequate for my needs. Unfortunately, the cone-holders are only one size (height), and are made for the deeper cones. In order to water from the bottom, one would need to add several gallons of water to the tray, to reach the bottom of the cones. Besides the weight, I think having that much water always present may lead to mold problems. Watering from the top always has problems of mold, root growth, etc. How have other people dealt with this? I haven't figured out a way to deal with this yet-- I tried putting rigid foam in the bottom of the tray to take up some of the volume of the water-- but of course, it floats and just pushes the cones up. I could use construction adhesive to attach the foam to the bottom, but I think there would be problems with that-- the tray has ridges so there would always be a film of water underneath and I think that will mold, too.

Great little system
I got this to use with the cone-tainer tray and the flow tray. These are great- very sturdy and they don't rattle around at all, are very sturdy. I am planning to use them for my sweet peas.

Hole on bottom bigger than you think
I got the SC7 Black for propagating gooseberry branches that I would otherwise normally throw out during my spring pruning. They worked great, I did a mix of 50% perlite and 50% vermiculite. I was an idiot and poured the mix straight in and it all fell out the bottom. The hole on the bottom is a half inch in diameter. So you better drop a small rock, or piece of mulch, or a cotton ball down it first. I decided to add boiling water to my mix so the vermiculite would expand a lot. Then I stuffed them with the wet mix when it cooled down. I used a finger and prodded the tops and refilled what shifted down. If you don't want to lose any medium get at least 2 Flow Trays. It'll be way easier to collect and toss back what falls off. Also after I got all my plants in I realized how densely they were spaced and realized that watering would be a nightmare so that's another reason for the Flow Tray. Which I didn't initially buy but will as soon as I submit this review.

Ten inch cone-tainers and flat
These cone-tainers are perfect for starting hazelnut seedlings, which need a considerable root depth. They are semi-flexible so will not crack or break when being handled.
-
Container trays
These trays are sturdy and strong. They work great with the conetainers. I placed them in a large clear tote, this allows me to water them without a mess.
-

Frame holder for pods. Good quality. A great unit with pods to grow seedlings. Reusable.

Great for starting tree seeds but a little small for acorns.
-
Great for seeds
Purchased 4 sets with the stands for starting seeds, working great so far. Doing everything expected.

Rapid Plant Growth With These
The best method I have found is to germinate the pepper and tomato seeds in a ziploc bag and then plant them in the ConeTainers. I'm using the 8.25 size & yes the roots grow straight down, fast!. Growth in these tubes is phenomenal, far better than any other method I have tried. I'm potting up from these to the deepots.
-
Great Seed-starting System
Wish I had these earlier! The root system they promote makes for a very vigorous transplant...even works well for cloning larger cuttings.
-
Great for seedlings from trees to cacti to tomato
The space saving and the re-usability qualities make this a winning product. When raising cactus, drainage is paramount, and this product delivers.
-
A Good Product
The white cones were the right size for seedlings or small transplants. Very happy.

Sturgeon River Campground & Resort
Nice product.
-
Works Great!
As advertised, putting the tubes and the tube holder together works nicely. It is clean and easy.
-
What you see is what you get
Works as advertises. Suggest putting a bit of small gravel in bottom to help keep dirt in the conetainer
-
Great concept for starting seeds
Have not yet put this thing to use, only just put the potting medium into the cells. It would have been nice to have a waterproof tray to set under the whole contraption for those of us not growing in a greenhouse

Cone-tainers Tray
Great functional product. Allows tap-roots to shoot downward and grow better than most cloning trays commonly available. I wish it was made from hemp plastic, though.

Worked Great

ConeTainers are great
The cones have vertical ribs that prevent roots from circling. 98 of them are very compact in the tray. Seem very sturdy. Can't wait to start propagating raspberries, forsythia, and various native trees and shrubs.
-
deborah hardwick
am using these for seedlings from my clematis hybridizing hobby and i think getting 98 plants in this space is perfect.
-
buyer
This stand is very heavy duty and should stand up to use and abuse for many years. It's bigger than a standard 1020 tray, so I'll have to figure out something else to put underneath to catch water runoff when watering.
-
buyer
I haven't had a chance to use these yet, but they appear to be good quality thick plastic that should be reusable for many years.
-
Perfect
Was looking for an organized way to plant my Japanese Maple seeds, & the minute I saw these i knew I found exactly what I was looking for. Havent used them yet but have given the Tray and Cones a once over and they look perfect.
