Mesh

Hortonova Crop Support Trellis is a strong versatile polypropylene mesh specially designed for efficient and economical cultivation of vegetables, fruits and flowers. Using Hortonova as a trellis allows climbing plants like beans, cucumbers and others to have greater exposure to sun and air while keeping them off the ground, which helps reduce rot and disease. Horizontal use keeps tomatoes, flowers and other non-climbing plants growing straight while maintaining optimal separation between the plants.

  • Reduces installation labor costs
  • Inexpensive, rot, and rust proof
  • Provides better exposure to light and air
  • Aseptic, reducing pesticide costs
  • Resistant to U.V. rays
  • Maximizes cultivation density
  • Results in high crop yields

Installation

  • Installed vertically it can be used for growing peas, benas, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, zucchini, and other climbing vegetables.
  • Installed horizontally it can be used for growing cut flowers like carnations, chrysanthemums, daisies, gladioli, lilies, orchids, roses, and snapdragons.

Vertical installation, for HORTICULTURE

Installing the posts and fastening the mesh

Growth of plants

Install Hortonova mesh for climbers vertically fastening it to posts along a row where plants will grow.

  • Place posts about 10-15 feet apart from each other.
  • Stretch a metal wire at the top to fasten the net.
  • Fix the metal wire to the ground using U STAPLES.

Unroll and stretch the net for climbers along the structure and fasten it. Keep the net slightly raised from the ground to allow plants to develop grabbing the mesh and climbing on it.

  • Fasten the mesh to the metal wire, placed at the top, with SYNTHETIC RAFFIA
  • Fasten the net to the wooden posts using STAPLES
  • Fix the net to the ground with U STAPLES

Damaged on ends

Set up my supports for a 50 foot row. Each end of 50' trellis fabric was torn or cut. Had to use additional twine to weave and fill in the spaces to make it fit the area.

No UV INHIBITORS

This trellis is the cats meow BUT no its not good for year to year as there is very little or no UV inhibitors and it breaks very easy after exposed one season to sun light.

Good Product, Bad Packaging

Product is exactly as described and did the job very well. My only complaint is that it does not come on a roll, but instead folded up. This cause a lot of extra work trying to unfold around the plants for each use.

The Solution

This trellis is the solution I have been looking for. I've tried wood trellis. I've tried using twine. Easy to work with and last season after season.

Garderner

This was bought after careful online researching to determine the best trellis for our use. Greenhouse Mega store had the best price out there; as much as $20-$30 less per bundle than some other sites. The quality is great! The product is very tough and from what I have read, should last for several seasons. The trellis is used not only for beans and cucumbers, etc., but also as a perimeter fence to keep the local deer herds out of the garden. So far, they have respected it. Would definitely buy this product again.
