90% density blocks out 90% of light. Constructed of high density polyethylene, the tough lock-stitch design of this knitted material resists rips, tears and fraying while reducing wind speed and heat build up in structure.
Bulk shade cloth has an unfinished edge that does not include reinforcing tape or grommets.
Unlike woven shade cloth, the tough, lockstitch construction of our knitted material will prevent unfinished edges from unraveling.
Bulk shade cloth can be easily cut with a sharp pair of scissors to any desired size.
Bulk pieces can be attached using snap grommets, zip ties or other fastening methods.

When hanging shade cloth pieces larger than 100 sq. ft., you may need extra center support to prevent the cloth from sagging in the middle. One easy way to do this is by running lightweight cable from corner to opposite corner, forming an X pattern that the cloth can rest on. For pieces larger than 400 sq. ft., you may need cables running end to end every 4' or so.

90% black shade cloth
covered my hoop enclosure and now have 20 happy hens !!!
I fly a 12 x 20 foot piece of this over my deck every summer and the last piece lasted 12 years and was replaced only because I was lazy and did not keep the redwood supports sanded smooth and a section tore. I sewed it up for two years and it was fine but for aesthetics I decided to replace.. Really make a difference in use of the deck. Gets up in the 100- 110 range here in summer..
90% shade cloth
Bought for my 16' x 14' patio arbor for shade. Well made product and is great for what we need. The material reduces the temperature by 20%. The only item I would change is having the edges bound for a finished look.
This black shade cloth has been atop our backyard pergola for five summers. And it would go for another five or more if the mice hadn't eaten through it while stored in the garage over the winter. The quality is superb. And the service from Greenhouse Megastore is prompt and efficient.
Wonderful product, best prices out there
I do ecological research that requires me to manipulate light availability for plants, so I regularly purchase large quantities of this shade cloth (ranging from 30% to 90% shade). This fabric is strong, lightweight, will not tear or fray, and provides the shade density advertised. I attach it to pvc frames using cable ties, and leave it out year-round for several years without any signs of weathering or UV damage. Because it is bulk unfinished cloth it will roll in on the edges, so get finished edges if you don't want rolling to occur. There may be a seam if you get larger widths, but for me getting a piece that wide that is already sown together beats having to sow it myself.
I definitely thought twice after reading the other review but after looking around this place had the best price by far. And it tells you several times about the charge for smaller amounts of custom cut pieces. If you don't want to pay that then buy the premade pieces that they offer. I was very happy with the shade it is beautiful.
The cut was up to 6 off in some spots. There was a seam down the middle (20' wide order) and a additional $20 charge since the order came under $60. The edges were so rolled up on the edges I could not use it. I requested a return and it was refused.
