The edges of these panels are sewn with heavy-duty reinforcing tape. Brass grommets are installed on approx. 2' centers around the perimeter. Often includes a seam where two pieces of shade have been sewn together. Durable, easy to install with ropes, bungees or wire. Most durable solution for smaller areas where shade will be suspended between four points. Grommeted panels are sold in pre-cut sizes or can be ordered in any custom size.
A raw piece of shade fabric where edges of panel are not reinforced with any tape or grommets. Would not typically have a seam but may have a raw (cut) edge. Can be installed with wiggle wire, shade cloth clips or wooden lath. Precut Panels are sold in pre-cut sizes or can be ordered in any custom size.
Sold in factory widths by the linear foot. Would only rarely have a seam and sides typically include a factory finished (uncut) edge. Most cost effective solution for large quantities of shade fabric.
40% density will block out 40% of light. Perfect for use over patios or flowering plants which will be effected by longer natural light exposure due to an increase in light quantity and duration. This white polyethylene fabric absorbs and reflects the white scattered light from the atmosphere. The interior of the structure is cooler than that covered by black shade cloth in hot weather conditions, as white shade cloth reflects the heat.
Fabricated pieces include black reinforcing tape on all four sides. Reinforcing tape is a seat belt like material that provides extra durability along the edge of the piece and allows installation of grommets.
Fabricated sizes include a brass grommet in each corner of the piece and approximately every 2' apart around the entire perimeter. Grommets allow easy installation using rope or zip ties.
When hanging shade cloth pieces larger than 100 sq. ft., you may need extra center support to prevent the cloth from sagging in the middle. One easy way to do this is by running lightweight cable from corner to opposite corner, forming an X pattern that the cloth can rest on. For pieces larger than 400 sq. ft., you may need cables running end to end every 4' or so.

Garden Shade Cloths
My garden has been saved by these shade cloths. I live inPhoenix, AZ. We just lived through a week of 115 - 120 degrees temperatures. My melons, peppers, artichoke, eggplants, cucumber and Swiss Chard survived and even thrived. Without these shade cloths, they would have FRIED!
Good buy for southwestern garden
Had these up since beginning of May and they reduce the sun intensity just as described—seems to have delayed bolting and allowed tomatoes and peppers to set fruit. Still enough sun for corn, squash, and to allow tomatoes to ripen. Also sturdy enough to withstand wind.
High quality product but maybe not right for my application.
I need to reduce the intensity of sunlight on my west-facing glazing during summer. I am in New Mexico & have a formerly screened porch, & sheet fiberglass glazing. I intend to install the shade cloth outside of the glazing to reduce the blistering summer heat. I need all the light I can get for growing heat-tolerant veggies; there are no skylights. A test hanging of the new white shade cloth this winter shows little reduction in heat transmission but plenty of light. I doubt I have bought the right product. I have black shade cloth but not enough light comes through. I'm thinking that the aluminized shade cloth would be best for my situation. This summer I will hang the white cloth & see if it makes a meaningful reduction in heat. Right now I have buyers' remorse. I would urge Greenhouse Megastore to improve descriptions of all product applications on their website; right now it is too sparse. I am left with too many questions about their products.
Been using the 40% white shade cloth for two years. It has held up through wind storms and hail storms with no damage. I prefer the white shade cloth over the black because it seems brighter and cooler under the same percentage of shade.
I couldn't be happier with the 40% White Shade Cloth. It has reduced my greenhouse temps from the high 90's to the low 80's. It lets in plenty of light for plants to grow. Highly recommended.
I am very happy with the shade cloth that I purchased. It worked perfectly over my pint sized greenhouse. I was very happy with the quality and workmanship. I would order it again. Service was also excellent and if I need other garden supplies I would use Greenhouse Mega store again. Thank you
The Best for Seedlings
Simply put, this cloth protects young plants from direct sunlight and oppressive heat without retarding their growth. When walking a fine line between seedlings not getting enough sun and baking them to death, this cloth provides a solution that quickly pays for itself in saved time, money, and frustration. Having a large deck but no greenhouse, I purchased cloth pre-fabbed with the edging and loops, which is absolutely worth the bit of extra money. I then quickly and inexpensively cobbled a wooden frame using 2X4s and a box of hooks from the accessories section, then stained the frame to match the deck. It looks like it belongs on the deck and the white fabric disperses the sunlight impressively. Plants that looked stressed recovered within a week. The only thing I did wrong is not doing this little day project several years ago. It's a no brainer.
Product is a good quality. Arrived fast. We chose 40% sun blockage for our back deck. Hindsight I would have gone with 50% or more.
Shade cloth provides shade!
I'm very pleased with this product. My garden is located in area that receives 10+ hours of sunlight every day. My poor plants were roasting in the hot Texas sun and were on life-support prior to installing this shade cloth. After installing the shade cloth my cucumbers and tomatoes have come back to life and are fruitful again! My only regret on this product is that I should have purchased the 50% shade cloth instead of the 40%, other than that it is an excellent product for full-sun gardens.
I bought the 40% white sunblock shade cloth to put over my patio deck. Product shipped quickly and installed easily. It looks great and there is a noticeable difference in sunlight intensity and temperature. I've recommended this to friends already!
Easy to put up, works really well to lower the heat in the greenhouse!
Great Shade for Seedlings
I love the white 40% shade cloth for covering areas growing large numbers of seedlings. The shade cast is pleasant to work under while still having a somewhat sunny feeling because of the white color of the cloth. The binding and grommets are sturdy and well made.
Excellent cloth and value
Unlike some of the other cloths I've tried from Amazon, this in-house brand is high quality and will last a while for sure. I like the white for extra reflective properties VS the black, especially here in Colorado.I'd both recommend and buy again.
Very durable , love how it handles in the wind. I hope I feel the same way at the end of the season..
Patty did a great job!
the shade cloth has held up incredibly well through all of the wind and rain that we've had. it is put together well, sewn well (yea Patty!)and should last for several years even in the Texas heat.
White shade cloth 40%
this shade cloth is of very good quality with strong edges and grommets. I received it much faster than expected.
NOT a sail
The edging was described as seatbelt material... it is NOT. I had suspended this shade from the four corners when a puff of wind came up and ripped the grommets out of two of the corners. This product is NOT as strong as 'shade sails' and will not stand up to much abuse. Greenhouse Megastore cheerfully refunded purchase price.
Not very sturdy
Received this product much sooner than promised. When I tried to hang this shade cloth the problems started. Got it suspended in the four corners when a breeze came up and took the shade up like a parachute.. Ripped the grommets out of two corners. Never got to make the other attachments.
The shade cloth was just what I ordered. It worked out for us as we had planed.
I needed a quick solution to some transplants that needed to go outside in the hot Texas sun but were not quite ready for the shock. I purchased a 12 by 12 white 40% block shade cloth with grommets installed. Worked great attached with clamps over a quick PVC DIY frame. Service was expedient.
Fast Shipping, Great Product
Sun Shade came very quickly and was exactly as expected. Grommets were secured well with the fabric. Small Size of the shipping box surprised me but it was folded neatly and was easy to get out. Only complaint would be that I needed a longer and narrow size that wasn't offered. Due to custom size upcharge, I went with this product. Overall I'm happy, just wished there were a few more sizes available.
Quick Shipping/Excellent Quality/Great Value
I received my order for 40% white shadecloth very quickly. The quality of the product is excellent and a great value. I had purchased similar product from other suppliers but I think this product is closer to 40% shade than any of the others. I'll be ordering more in the future. Thank you.
The shade has helped my greenhouse so much as it is hot in SE Colorado. The only bad thing is that I ordered a 21 in long and it was alittle short to be a 21 but we made it work. Love the shade.
We really like this shade cloth. We are using it our vegetable garden, shade is pretty vital here for success. The center mesh material does stretch a little over time (from windy conditions here)but the overall quality of the border material and grommets are great. We will be buying out second one soon for shading the chicken coop and run.
Stock Shade Cloth 40% White
I haven't used this shade cloth yet but it looks well made and I do like the anchor holes. It will be for a vegetable covering when the summer heat starts cooking everything. I currently use home depot shade cloths and cover cloths to shade my plants but it looks horrible. Once I set up my greenhouse, this new cloth is what I plan to use in conjunction with clear poly covering to shade vegetables that don't like the extreme heat during summer.
love this cloth
It worked wonders last year in our extreme heat in central Illinois. We had to water at least every other night because of the heat and drought but the 40% white shade kept it much cooler under the shade and helped to retain the moisture. We've had some very windy days too and the grommets made it fine. We took it down for the winter to help save on it. We ordered a custom 10x28 piece and put supports on the sides and some poles down the middle to support the weight of the cloth and keep it off the top of my head when I am under it working.
the grommets started ripping out in less than a week after putting it up. very disappointed, considering the price .
40% Shade Cloth, White
I originally purchased the 60% black shade cloth. It blocked too much sun from my garden. I put it up over part of my swimming pool and purchased the 40% white for my garden. Massive difference--my tomato and pepper plants are happy! Both shade cloths are holding up well: no grommets pulling out nor tears in the cloth. I have had at least 2 storms with strong winds (40+ mph).
Awesome Just what I needed
Quick Turn around. Came in set it up and now the pumpkins are happy. This cloth saved my bacon since we have had a very hot summer so far. Will be ordering more for next year. If you are looking at this shade cloth that means you need it. Buy it and you won't be sorry!
40% shade cloth
very speedy delivery and the product was very good quality. I ordered a pre-cut piece with tape and grommets everything was sown and is real strong. I would recommend this product.
40% White Shade Cloth
This shade cloth is slightly more expensive than the black shade but it offers some unique advantages. I particularly like the way it diffuses light, creating a true greenhouse like effect while letting rain in and allowing for a cooling breeze. 40% is a good shade here in Phoenix for the most plants. For seedlings in summer I double up with 40% and 22% white shade and then peel off and/or rotate as it cools off in the fall. I am happy with both white shade cloth purchases.
Does the job, holds up good in high winds. The extra shade help the garden in the high heat. Shipped fast, Thank You.
white cloth works
Excellent cloth to keep your vegetables from bolting!! Well made!
Bought this to shade my vegetable garden from harsh summer sun here in TX. Also bought the snap-on clips. Both very easy to use and my plants are benefiting.
I needed shade cloth for plants I wintered over. I have Sago Palms, geraniums and more I needed to acclimate to the full sun. The shade cloth has helped reduce the labor of moving the plants during this process. So far it is working as expected.
I bought this to cover a 10x20 carport frame, in order to convert it to a shadehouse for summer / winter vegetables. The 20x24 fabricated size was perfect to provide cover including both sides, as the summer sun is brutal in SW Florida. Attachment with zip-ties was easy with the reinforced edging with gromets. No bungie ties needed. Shipping a bit expensive for such a light shipment, but an overall good value none the less.
This product is just as it is advertised. It's just what we wanted.
this shade cloth is very easy to work with but also is very strong.
I purchased this product to use in the spring and summer to cover my PVC pipe greenhouse, my plants and I love it.
Just what I needed
I built an RV carport 11 foot high with a polycarbonate roof, and needed a sunshade on the side your product worked out perfectly, allows the breeze and cuts the sun. Thanks, Andy
