Grommeted Panel

The edges of these panels are sewn with heavy-duty reinforcing tape. Brass grommets are installed on approximately two-foot centers around the perimeter. They often include a seam where two pieces of shade have been sewn together. The panels are durable and easy to install with ropes, bungees or wire. It’s the most durable solution for smaller areas where the shade cloth will be suspended between four points. Grommeted panels are sold in pre-cut sizes or can be ordered in any custom size.

Precut Panel

A raw piece of shade fabric where the edges of the panel are not reinforced with any tape or grommets. Would not typically have a seam but may have a raw (cut) edge. They can be installed with wiggle wire, shade cloth clips or wooden lath. Precut panels are sold in precut sizes or can be ordered in any custom size.

Bulk (currently viewing)

Sold in factory widths by the linear foot. It would only rarely have a seam and the sides typically include a factory-finished (uncut) edge. The most cost-effective solution for large quantities of shade fabric.

If you're trying to strike a balance between sun and shade for your plants, Aluminet Shade Cloth 40% won't tip the scales. The 60% light transmission provides the right environment for many common vegetables, herbs and bedding plants along with a variety of flowers. Meanwhile, the special metalized HDPE outer layer reflects heat away in the summer and prevents it from escaping in the winter, making your greenhouse temperatures more stable and keeping your climate control system from getting tuckered out.

Our bulk Aluminet shade screen is a money-saving solution for large commercial and teaching greenhouses. It works particularly well for interior installations as a thermal screen or permanent covering. The knitted lockstitch design won't unravel, fray or get tangled even if you leave the edges unfinished. With shade cloth widths from seven to 28 feet, there are options for every grower. We sell Aluminet greenhouse shade cloth by the linear foot with huge volume discounts to lower costs and light levels.

Aluminet 40% Reflective Shade Cloth Features:

  • Bulk shade cloth has an unfinished edge that does not include reinforcing tape or grommets
  • Unlike woven shade cloth, the tough lockstitch construction of our knitted material will prevent unfinished edges from unraveling
  • Bulk shade cloth can be easily cut with a sharp pair of scissors to any desired size
  • Bulk pieces can be attached using snap grommets, zip ties or other fastening methods

Hanging Instructions

When hanging shade cloth pieces larger than 100 square feet you may need extra center support to prevent the cloth from sagging in the middle. One easy way to do this is by running lightweight cables from each corner to the opposite corner, forming an X pattern that the cloth can rest on. For pieces larger than 400 square feet, you may need cables running end to end every four feet or so.

Keeps my veggies from cooking in the garden

I purchased some of this a couple of years ago for my greenhouse when the temps were reaching above 105 deg. in the greenhouse It helped to cool it down and then I took down the plastic covering from my mini-hoop house and used the shade covering to protect my tomatoes and other veggies intense sun. I couldn't be happier with the product. It reflects the sun lowers the heat and I had garden production when other gardener's produce was burning up.

rips easily/ too lightweight

I have an aluminum famed greenhouse and the material catches and rips on very inch of it.Real pain to put on and off without it getting snagged and ripping somewhere. I do notice a reduced use of the vent fan. Wish it was made of more durable material. Hope it holds together for a growing season.
