Even backyard and DIY gardeners can get a commercial-grade structure thanks to Rion greenhouses! The Hobby Gardener 2 is an engineered greenhouse that you can assemble yourself for raising seedlings, vegetable crops and non-native plants.

A New Generation of Rion Greenhouses

The new generation of Rion greenhouses has been redesigned from the ground up to provide improved durability, easier installation and an all-around better habitat for plants to thrive.

Engineered for lasting strength, the Hobby Gardener 2 features 6mm twin-wall polycarbonate side panels, a UV-protected PVC resin frame and 4mm twin-wall polycarbonate roof panels with added aluminum profiles to the roof frame. The UV-protected twin-wall polycarbonate is both high-impact and hail-resistant while also providing heat insulation and light diffusion.

At 8' 6" wide x 6' 9" tall and available in lengths up to 24' 10", the Hobby Gardener 2 is a hobby greenhouse designed to fit in any backyard. The hinged French doors and roof vent allow for easy access as well as convenient temperature and humidity control. The Hobby Gardener 2 assembles using the "pin and lock" connector method which provides both simpler assembly and a more durable structure.

9 years old and I still give it 5 stars

I bought mine from a different supplier. It came in a mess, but getting missing parts was easy and no questions asked the three times we requested them. It's been through record storms, 8 inches of snow, dismantled and reassembled three times due to moving to new homesteads. You do have to be a little savvy with putting it together. If you do a crappy job assembling the base...the walls will be off. If you do a bad job on the walls, the roof will be off...etc. but, with patience and two people to working together...you can do it! And, it will all fit nicely. Only advice is don't try to put it together in freezing weather because it will be harder to make it flex. It needs to flex a little as you put it together.

Rion Hobby Gardener 2 8'X8'

Bought this in 2005. I would hightly reccomend it. Started to show some uv degradation about 10 years later. In March of 2019 we had a hail storm with up to golf ball size hail which broke several of the panels out on the roof. I attribute that to the uv degradation. Over 14 years this little greenhouse withstood winds up to 60 mph. It did withstand a hail storm in 2008 with hail stone of about a quarter size. The panels are pricey enough that I will not try to repair it but convert it to a shed of some sort. My opinion is that you can't go wrong by purchasing this little gem

Solid Little Building

Second Season. We live in a very windy area, Lethbridge, Alberta. Site will only give US areas. We are an hour from Montana border so... We get winds up to 50-60 mph. I had to silicone in a couple of panels on the west wind side but no problem since I did that. I would like to have more options for venting as it does get too hot. Looking into constructing something myself. Will make a vent fit somehow and might buy some sun screen. Bigger would be better, we have 8x8, but we only have so much space.

So so Greenhouse

I've owned a Rion 6X12 now for five years. The plastic is very weathered and getting brittle. It held up well for two years but now is leaking in several places. I have considered taking it apart and refurbishing but the replacement parts would be too expensive. The greenhouse is setup on a level concrete pad.

Great

I have had this greenhouse (6'6 wide by 8'6 long) for about 12 years. It has held up very well through both hurricanes and blizzards. My only regret is that I did not buy a bigger one.

jury is still out

Haven't been able to set it up yet because we are under 18 of snow. I have been able to assemble the base so I could get an accurate measurement for my foundation and found the directions are sometimes lacking , they are easier if you take your time to figure it out. After all , it's not a race. I do recommend one inventory the parts. I was missing one piece from one box. Contacted the company via email and had the part within several days. Packaging is good but recommend better protection for polycarbonate.
