Description

Dalotia coriaria are used to prevent and control:

  • Shore flies (Scatella spp, Ephydridae spp)
  • Several species of fungus gnats (sciarids) such as Lycoriella spp, Sciara spp, Bradysia spp, and Mycetophilida family members
  • Thrips pupae (species like Frankliniella occidentalis a.k.a. Western flower thrips)
  • F. tritici (flower thrips)
  • Springtails (Collembola family members) and moth fly larvae (Psychodidae family members)

The Dalotia coriaria is1/8" in size, and is a fast-moving, soil-dwelling predatory beetle known for its aggressive feeding behavior. They spend most of their time in the substrate but are also able to fly.

Dalotia coriaria eggs take 3-4 days to hatch into predatory larvae. They have a lifespan of about 21 days at 70°F, and are most effective in temperature ranges between 55-95°F.
