This exceptionally productive variety of summer squash bears fruits that can be eaten when 4 to 12 inches long. The flesh is tender and delicious. High in vitamin A.
After the last frost when the soil has thoroughly warmed, plant seeds in enriched soil, compost or rotted manure. Seedlings can be started indoors in 3-inch peat pots, 4 weeks before transplanting. Use plastic mulch in cool climates to retain heat in the soil.
Fertilize monthly beside each plant. Water regularly. To harvest, pick when small and immature for best flavor. Squash are over-mature if the skin cannot be easily punctured by your thumbnail. Pick regularly so squash will continue to form.
