Effective indoors and out, Coco Coir Planting Chips can help bolster growth for tropical flowers and plants. Additionally, since the planting chips retain water and resist fungus, Coco Coir can be used as an ideal mulch or ground cover.

GROW!T coco chips function much like potting soil, peat moss and other planting materials. You can grow common plants in it as well as exotic ones. Coco chunks have a stable pH, low EC and high air-to-water ratio, making them a good alternative to standard mulches and a must for hydroponics.

Lightweight and easily stored, each compressed block of Coco Coir chips is equivalent to more than two cubic feet of mulch once the water has been added. Create a coco soil mix or use it as-is for healthier plants and a more bountiful harvest.

GROW!T Coco Planting Chips Features:

  • 10 lb. bag of compressed material is equivalent to 2 cubic feet of mulch
  • Can be used as a mulch, ground cover, hydroponics medium or soil aggregate
  • An OMRI-listed organic plant material
  • Easy to store and transport

Best Chips Ever

These are the cleanest, least salty chips I've ever used. Got an EC of 0.8 first rinse, right out of the bag. Two rinses, and the EC was down to 0.25, and very little tannin remained. The price is right, too.

Good Deal

This small bag once water is added expands to a huge amount, about enough to fill a mulch sized bag. Great product to use on tip of the soil to keep it from washing out or to add to your potting mix. There is on issue. Some bags are good, some are not. It's a roll of the dice. The last couple I have received have less chips/ chunks and more hairy fiber. If you want chunks without all the messy hairy pieces which are really useless, get the croutons. These used to be similar to the croutons but the last few bags have not been

I use these to pot my orchids. The orchids seem to do very well. It's easy to water and also helps maintain humidity.

Excellent Product

This product is great for potted plants that like a moist but loose soil mixture. I also use it on top of the soil after I pot plant. It looks nice and stops the soil from washing out when watering. I also like to put some in the bottom of the pot before I add soil. It stays moist which makes the roots seek out the coir and keeps the bottom of the pot aerated. One thing I do want to mention there are salts in this so you really need to fill a wheelbarrow with water when you hydrate your block then dump the water. Do this about 5 times to make sure you rinse the salts out or it can turn your leaves yellow and burn tender roots.

PlantIt Compressed Coir Mulch

I've been pleased with this item. The brick fills an 18 gal. bin--what I use to reconstitute. I've just used it for mulch so far; plan to use it for soil amendment later. Mulch works fine; even tho it dries out, it keeps the soil underneath moist. (Remember to water ground/plants before applying, then wet down the mulch.)Only drawback is cost, but am hoping it lasts better than straw, and w/out weed seeds and convenience, maybe balances out.Highly recommend Greenhouse Megastore for price, service, and reasonable shipping costs.
