We recommend this product be covered by mulch or another material to extend the product's life. Prolonged exposure to sunlight will reduce the lifespan of the product and void the warranty.
We use the pro weed barrier for between our garden rows. We take it up and let it dry and roll it every fall and put it back down in the spring. In places we leave things down we use the woven but this works best for in the garden in places we are taking it up for the winter. Works great. Fold in half for 18" spacing or mark it for 2' spacing. It lasts this way for about 5 years due to it being out in the sun. Parts that are covered with something are still going strong. But sun does do as the description says and will mess it up. But the saving in time from weeding and all for us is well worth it.
Easy to work with and does the job!! I am using it around my fruit trees and shrubs. So nice to keep weeds under control! and avoid erosion with our winds.
After reviewing what was available to me locally at the big box stores, I decided to spend a few more dollars for quality weed cloth. I was not disappointed. Very sturdy cloth that I expect a long work life under my mulch.
The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have just installed it and have not seen if it will indeed prevent weeds. The material looks very tough and seems like it will be durable. It was easy to install but you do need a very very sharp blade to cut it because this can be difficult with just an average blade. In part, this is a good thing because it shows that the material does not easily tear. I used the ground anchoring pins sold on this site to secure it to the ground and then laid about 3 inches of mulch over it.
Exactly what I was looking for in a landscaping weed barrier; heavy duty. I have found it to be an excellent product so far.
