Waiting to see how well they compost down into the garden once the seedlings are transplanted. Peat pots don't always compost down very easily. Like the idea.
These coir pots are great for our needs. I start in small cells, then transplant into the 3 7/8 x 4 coir pots to continue their growth under grow lights. Then out to the garden they go! Planting is so quick, easy and less messy using the coir pots. Plus when they break down they add to my soil. Love them!
These coconut coir pots are a more sustainable alternative to peat pots. I used them for the first time last season and was pleasantly surprised that they hold up longer and stay moist longer after watering than peat pots do. Unlike peat pots, the roots can easily make their way through the fibers so you can plant the whole pot in the ground. One negative.... approximately 10-15 pots per case we're damaged or had defects that made them unusable. Also, they are more expensive than peat pots, but for me the sustainability factor was worth the extra cost.
These pots are perfect. Germination time for my TPS was only 4-5 days. The growth in these compared to plastic is twice the growth so far! Holds the moisture better.
This was my first experience using this brand of direct plant pot. In the past I have used Cow pots or peat pots for direct planting. I was looking for an item to fit in my containers which I have used for Cow pots. These fit but are a tight fit. The peat pots don't fit at all. These are less expensive than the Cow pots but more expensive than a similar size peat pot. The rots penetrate these pots quite well which was one of my concerns. I don't think these will break down as fast as the Cow pots which means they are less likely to fall apart in your hands but may remain in the soil longer. These, the Cow pots and the peat pots all are good direct plant pots and each have there limitations and advantages.
Love these. I got the 3 in. size, which is versatile. Last soooo much better than peat pots and they breathe. Price was great, and the square ones fit into the planting trays better than round ones.Highly recommend Greenhouse Megastore for price, service, and reasonable shipping costs.
Thank you - can't wait to use them!
Actually, i just don't want you to reduce the stock! GM runs out alot and i need them all the time for my nursery. The only trouble with them is that they tend to start fraying in about 3 weeks, which should be considered if things stay on your shelves longer than that.
These are much better than peat pots for potting individual plants for sale in my nursery. My customers love them at the farmers markets. Roots can grow through them and they are entirely plantable and eventually decompose.
i havent used the pots yet, but they arrived on time and they are really great quality. i was going to buy some similar ones on amazon but I'm glad i didn't because then i wouldn't have these. will buy from this company again
