Early growth and popular variety that produces beautiful dark red globe-shaped roots up to 3 in. across that have an extremely sweet flavor. This all-purpose tasty beet is great when eaten fresh out of the garden, canned or frozen and the 3 in. to 15 in. tops make good greens.
When and Where to Plant: They do great in containers and small gardens. Beets like loose soil free of big rocks and debris. Water slowly and thoroughly to get the roots. Watering consistently and regularly will ensure good flavor and water retention.
Care: Keep soil moist and free of weeds. Protect from insects.
Harvesting: Loosen the earth around the beet and gently pull out - at this point, they would be around golf ball sized.
