The Coco Coir Croutons are lightweight, OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) listed coconut croutons. Great for increasing soil aeration and drainage, their porous structure penetrates roots easily and they have similar water retention to clay pellets.
Love these chunks, it does retain water of course, but so amazing!
I grow a lot of orchids and bromeliads and these coco croutons are just the right size for providing support for the plants and the quick drainage that they require.
This coco coir hold moisture better than vermiculite and allows for great aeration. I am using this coir as a growing medium for my secondary pseudo hydroponics growing station. The coco coir readily grows fungus, both beneficial and harmful. So this would be an excellent medium for growing mushrooms if one would so choose to.
