Works with

Horticultural grade Vermiculite has become a mainstay as a component of soil-less growing mediums, as a soil amendment and in many other horticultural uses. Vermiculite has the excellent property of improving soil aeration while retaining the moisture and nutrients necessary to feed roots, cuttings and seeds for faster growth.

Vermiculite possesses cation exchange properties, meaning it can hold positively-charged ions and thus retain nutrients. This mineral holds ammonium, potassium, calcium and magnesium and make them available to the growing plant. When mixed with peat, composted bark, organic compost or natural soils, vermiculite helps promote faster root growth and gives quick anchorage to young roots. These mixes help retain air, plant food, and moisture, and releases them as needed by the plant.

Because vermiculite is very light and easy to handle, it easily mixes with soil, peat, composted pine bark and other composted organic materials, fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. Gardeners also can mix it with non-soil materials for use in hydroponics. In addition to promoting growth, vermiculite can assist root anchoring and prevent mold development.

Greenhouse Megastore has an assortment of horticultural vermiculite for sale in small and large bags - and we offer bulk pallets for commercial growers. Contact us if you have questions or want to request a custom quote.

Bulk Vermiculite Features:

  • Available in Medium, Coarse and Super-Coarse varieties.
  • Can be used for house plants, outdoor gardens, greenhouses, hydroponics and more.
  • Vermiculite is also great for cuttings.

Good stuff

Large volumes of coarse vermiculite has been hard for me to find so I was really pleased to see it available here. Price was great and delivery was fast.

Perfect for making my raised garden bed mixture

I've tried others but find this to be the best price and quality. This will be my third year using this Vermiculite versus various others over the past 14 years.

Sandy Benson (Tacoma, US)
Much finer than expected

I purchased medium vermiculite and thought it would be similar in size to what I’d seen in local stores. I was surprised how fine it was. I double checked with Customer Service and they confirmed that was the size they sell as medium. If I had known how fine it was, I would have ordered coarse.

Great Product!

Perfect size! This is nice, light and filters thru the potting mix exceptionally well. Easy to use right from the bag or just pour into another container to scoop from.

This is a good product! I use it as part of my Mel's Mix in my square gardens. I have purchased it in the past and it continues to be quality each time I order and use it.
