The edges of these panels are sewn with heavy-duty reinforcing tape. Brass grommets are installed on approx. 2' centers around the perimeter. Often includes a seam where two pieces of shade have been sewn together. Durable, easy to install with ropes, bungees or wire. Most durable solution for smaller areas where shade will be suspended between four points. Grommeted panels are sold in pre-cut sizes or can be ordered in any custom size.
A raw piece of shade fabric where edges of panel are not reinforced with any tape or grommets. Would not typically have a seam but may have a raw (cut) edge. Can be installed with wiggle wire, shade cloth clips or wooden lath. Precut Panels are sold in pre-cut sizes or can be ordered in any custom size.
Sold in factory widths by the linear foot. Would only rarely have a seam and sides typically include a factory finished (uncut) edge. Most cost effective solution for large quantities of shade fabric.

When hanging shade cloth pieces larger than 100 sq. ft., you may need extra center support to prevent the cloth from sagging in the middle. One easy way to do this is by running lightweight cable from corner to opposite corner, forming an X pattern that the cloth can rest on. For pieces larger than 400 sq. ft., you may need cables running end to end every 4' or so.
We are using this to line our deck railings for both privacy and wind reduction purposes. Very high quality construction.
I talked to 2 people at Greenhouse before buying and both told me that no binding was required for this netting regardless of how it was cut, but that is not really right. One edge holds great, but any angled cut will fray and have tremendous stretch. I did find that my regular sewing machine will sew through several layers so I will still be able to make it work for my purpose. Just a lot of sewing with a 30'+ length.
I work at a retirement community and we just started using the shade cloths on the residents patios. It is easy to work with and looks very nice. We will see this winter how it holds up but so far so good ! :)
It is exactly as described and cut easily and did not fray. The cut edges do curl up a good bit so I may sew (Hem) them. product is doing its job. will check back after the summer and let you know how it holds up in the SE U.S. sun.
Just built a pergola and had shade cloth worked into my design. I was pleased that I could purchase shade cloth in bulk for just the amount I needed. I was actually looking for 3ft wide cloth but the narrowest available was 6ft. Had to settle for that. The material arrived in about 4 days which was great. About a week later we were ready to install the fabric and I was surprised to find a seam running the entire 70ft length of the material I ordered, exactly at the 3ft wide mark, right down the middle. I have two issues with this...first, I wanted 3ft width but it was not an option, but yet the material I recieved was two three foot wide material sewed together. Second, when I ordered the material, it did say, depending on the length, you may find a periodic seam in the material, which I assumed I may find a side-to-side seam at the 50ft or 60ft mark....not the entire length of the material. Being this seam is smack dab in the middle of the 6ft width, the look is acceptable, but not what I expected. Buyer beware. To Greenhouse Megastore's defense, I reached out to them and they did circle back with the manufacturer Green-Tec and got an explanation that this was done to enhance the appearance. I would have preferred and expected a seamless look. Greenhouse Megastore did issue me a partial credit. I sincerely hope they adjust the description of this product so the customer understands clearly what they are purchasing.
The bulk shade cloth I ordered to cover my 24 x 24 pergola worked out perfectly. Had I purchased the same amount in a retail store I would have been broke afterwards. The quality was superb.
Material is very easy to work with and looks great in this application. We have a pergola with a modified 'egg crate' overhead. We cut the material into strips and wove them in and out of the overhead. It provides a semi-shade from the sun and creates a very comfortable space, within. We also cut 'shades' that hang across the south side and provide a lot of protection from the afternoon sun. The material looks great and we get positive feedback from our guests. A great value for the price. I gave it a four instead of a five because I'm a very tough grader.
Ordered this material for my windows, but it didn't work out like I planned. Still figuring out the best method for installation the way I want it. Fabric does change the clear light that does shine through the window into a beige shade so keep that in mind for window shading and its impact in your room for whatever color you're ordering - it's not a bad thing, just sayin'. My only complaint is they stuffed/folder/jammed the fabric into a box for shipping - not rolled. So it was all crinkled and dented and what not when unpacking and still is. So I wouldn't buy it from here again, but only because of that because now you would have to tension it to get out the crinkles since you can't really iron it given it is plastic-ish. If they send on a roll then you're good to go.
I purchased this shade cloth to create a semi-triangular shade over my back patio. It was relatively easy material to work with; has a bit of stretch so it pulls out nice and tight. The tan color is created by knitting together white and brown threads. We only put this up in the summer months (lets rain thru, but catches the snow) and my only complaint is after about the third year, the white threads began to deteriorate. By the fifth year, the patio furniture was always covered with white flakes. The brown threads are still good! I replaced it this year with the 85% Dark Green (which is actually Black and green weaved together) which surprisingly doesn't produce shade that seems much darker than the 70% tan.
