Works with

The first true innovation in potting mix since… well, a long time. Ready to experience it for yourself?

Glee Potting Mix is a proprietary blend of Canadian Sphagnum peat moss, HydraFiber, limestone, gypsum, a wetting agent, and fertilizer. HydraFiber is a thermally refined fiber made from pine trees, which gardeners can feel great about using, since it’s made entirely of renewable resources and helps reduce carbon footprint. Contains 6 months of extended release fertilizer.

The magic of Glee Potting Mix starts with HydraFiber, an advanced growing medium that’s not actually magic (we think…). It’s science! HydraFiber is made of thermally-refined pine bark and chips that have been put through our patented process to make this seemingly-magical product.

What does that geekspeak mean for you and your plants? Let’s take off this lab coat and tell you. It means consistent results, every time. It means better root development and more efficient water absorption. It means you can keep your area tidier and your hands cleaner, and have less cleanup. It means a happier, easier way to grow that feels like, well… magic!

Glee comes packaged as a highly-compressed material, which is why it’s in a small and lightweight bag. It expands to 2.5x its size, though, so the 0.4 cubic foot bag will actually yield 1 cubic foot of potting mix – matching other similar mixes in the market. One bag of Glee is enough to fill 25 quarts!

How to Use

  1. Pick the right pot & fill with Glee
Glee works great for all plants in all containers, including raised beds, indoor pots, or wherever you grow! So you can pick whatever type or style of container you like. For a traditional pot, pick one that’s slightly larger around than the root ball of the plant (and has a drainage hole). Don’t be afraid to loosen the root ball up a bit.

  2. Move your plant into its new home
Fluff that stuff! Glee expands as you work with it, so start with just a little. Position your plant so the top of the root ball is about 1” from the top of the pot or container and adjust as needed. Fill the container to the top and gently form the mix around the plant.

  3. Water normally first, less later
For the first watering, water thoroughly. Top your container off with more Glee if settling occurs and water some more. Make sure you read this next part, because it’s very important: to assess watering needs, check the moisture level 2” below the surface. Don’t just touch the top – Glee maintains moisture, so you’ll water less frequently than traditional potting mix, but it holds that water down by the roots that need it, not on the surface.

No good for seedling

Seedling that I potted in this ended up with iron deficiency. Those I uses ProMix were great. Had to frequently run tests and treat until moved outside to garden. Will never buy again

Not your average potting mix

This potting mix does exactly what it was designed to do - hold onto the moisture. It's best used in situations where you control the watering conditions (ie: greenhouse or indoor plants). It's not you're average potting mix and doesn't perform like it either. It doesn't require a lot of watering. Don't leave your planters out in the rain.

Worst mess ever

I cannot imagine this stuff being anything but nasty muck! After adding water, it just was thick and gooey: not at all what I want for plants! I let it sit for 5 days and it stayed wet so I added some soil conditioner and perlite, which was difficult to mix in. I have some herbs growing in the resulting combo but I will never buy it again no matter how discounted.

Great for the traveler

I wanted to plant some flower baskets, but I didn't want to worry about watering them all the time. This stuff has been great for that. Baskets are looking really good.

My flowers love this

I honestly can't believe the negative reviews. My patio containers and hanging baskets are the envy of the neighborhood. This potting mix retains the perfect amount of water. I left town for a few days and forgot to water. I came home and they still looked perfect! I've never seen so many blooms!

Do not expand

This product does not expand as stated, but mixed with soil it does make a light and fluffy mixture it also absorbs fast the water, not like peat moss alone which takes forever to hydrate in the first use. As for the price is too expensive for the quantity in the bag, which does NOT expand 2.5 times as stated.

Not what is described

This potting mix does not expand 2.5X. It does not expand at all. It is very fluffy in the bag, not compressed. When I added water to see if it would expand it became soggy and it ended up being less than I started with. I wouldn't plant anything in it. The roots would suffocate. I added an equal part of vermiculite and perlite then it miraculously became light and fluffy. It appears to be a very expensive bag of very fine peat moss. Luckily I got a promo discount, but it was still about twice what a bag of peat moss would cost. I wouldn't buy anymore of it. It sounded like a good idea but does not live up to the description.
