Takes some getting use to but works great and far better than trying to seed without it.
This little tool looks like it will solve the problem of sowing tiny seeds without them sticking together in a clump. My test run worked great, so I have high hopes for using it next spring. The video shows a trigger that this tool did not come with, but I wish it did--that looks like it would work even better.
Seeding is even quicker and easier than expected. The tips stay attached without issue. Produces a good vacuum that allows plenty of time to transfer seeds.
This seeder is very helpful for tiny seeds like snapdragon, though it can still be a bit difficult to see them and keep them on the vacuum needle. If the seeds are even a little bit larger, this thing is fabulous -- allows for quick pick-up and accurate placement, a little faster than I could do with fingers alone. For those of us who must keep our fingernails very short, which makes picking up tiny seeds very challenging, this is a great tool. The lid of the needle container does work to hold the seeds, but the tiny seeds tend to stick in there when it's time to pour the extras back into the seed packet, so I just use the palm of my hand instead.
It's able to efficiently handle tiny seeds like none of the other seed planters.
I used to broadcast small seeds and thin the seedlings which could also uproot the plant I was working to keep...now I use the wand to plant them one per cell...no more waste!
The seeder is made well and has different attachments for the size of seed you are wanting to plant. It also holds the seed well. I love having the dish lid to pour the seeds into. The only down side is that it seems rather time consuming to pick up each seed and place it for planting. This is my first time using this seeder so it might just be me getting used to it but, it seems as if seeding by hand is still faster with about the same results
This product works just like I thought it would. Somehow it hurts my heart to thin the plantings and often I've damaged the roots on healthy ones trying to pull out the not as strong ones. This year I'm setting one seed per starter pot and I'm very happy with the ease of use and efficiency of this seed starter.
